2025 MOLAP Conference to address mental health diagnoses, commercialized gambling, more

For 30 years, the Missouri Lawyers’ Assistance Conference has helped Missouri lawyers learn not only how to improve mental and physical health and well-being but also how prioritizing these things can help them even better serve their clients and communities.

This year’s virtual MOLAP Conference will again provide relevant and insightful sessions on a variety of topics.

The conference will take place from noon-3:50 p.m., and registration is $50. Attendees can earn up to 4.0 MCLE, 4.0 Ethics, 1.0 Elimination of Bias, and 4.0 Kansas Ethics credits through the programming. 

Speakers and topics 
Laurel Stevenson, director of the Mediation and Assessment Program with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, will present about the practicalities and ethics of balance, bias, and boundaries.

Karly Weigel of the Flynn Group in Overland Park, Kansas, will describe how lawyers can embrace mental health diagnoses they receive later in life.

Loretta Oleksy and Jill Carnell, both of Thought Kitchen LLC in Indiana, will discuss the impact of secondary trauma on lawyers.

Michael K. Fagan of the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis will present about the risk lawyers and their clients face from the explosion of legalized commercial gambling.
