Annie Gibson named ‘Prosecutor of the Year’

POY Award

The Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys named Annie Gibson as the 2023 “Prosecutor of the Year” for her exemplary skills and service.

Gibson has been the prosecuting attorney of Daviess County since 2007, a position that was part-time until January 2023. During her time as part-time prosecutor, Gibson often took on special prosecution cases from surrounding counties to assist other prosecutors while managing her own case load.

Gibson serves as the president of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys board, where she has spent countless hours advocating for the profession. She also helps with various Missouri Office of Prosecution Services and Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys’ programs, presenting at the Trial School, the Advanced Trial School, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol SORA/SORNA Conference.

She has been involved with the committee for part-time prosecutors over the years and has supported others with advice and her advocacy. She continues to work with the committee even as a full-time prosecutor as she is well-aware of the struggles part-time prosecutors face.

Gibson says she is always amazed while working with victims.

“I am often humbled and overwhelmed by the amazing strength and resilience of victims,” she said. “I am honored to seek justice on their behalf.”

She also stated that she could not do her work without the staff and law enforcement that help her, noting that the award reflects on them as well.
