Annual Meeting to provide networking, CLE opportunities

Registration is open for the 2023 Annual Meeting in Kansas City. The meeting, which will take place Sept. 13 – 15 at the Westin, marks the beginning of a new bar year and attracts lawyers and judges from across the state for CLE programming and to expand their networks. The meeting also has a virtual option for lawyers unable to attend in person.

For in-person attendees, the meeting kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 13 with the Young Lawyers’ Section New Lawyer Series and group meetings throughout the day. The President’s and Chief Justice’s Opening Night Reception on the Games Deck balcony overlooking the city will cap off the evening,

Annual Meeting will have a wide variety of traditional programming in the following tracks: All About Litigation; Family Law; Probate, Trust & Elder Law; and All About Business. These tracks will be available for virtual attendees on Sept. 26 – 29.

Virtual and in-person attendees will have access to two plenary sessions live on Thursday, Sept. 14., with both featuring expert mediators and panelists. The first plenary, “Creating a life of balance and satisfaction in a demanding legal profession” will be from 9 – 10:15 a.m., with “Innovation and impact on the future of the profession” immediately following from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.

Thursday will conclude with the much-anticipated Best of Missouri Reception held in Union Station’s Science City. The reception’s conclusion at 8 p.m. leaves plenty of time to explore downtown Kansas City with fellow professionals and friends.

The Annual Meeting will conclude on Friday, Sept. 15 with more track programming and a September 2023 ethics update from Missouri's legal ethics counsel.

The meeting will also include the passing of the gavel from 2022-23 Missouri Bar President Lauren Tucker McCubbin to Megan Phillips, 2023-24 president.

Three full days of Annual Meeting give lawyers opportunities to step out of the office and greet others in their profession face-to-face. In addition to scheduled events and programs, attendees will have the opportunity to spend their day meeting exhibitors, participating in discussions, and sharing their own expertise with others.
