Apply for district vacancies on Board of Governors by Sept. 8
The Missouri Bar Board of Governors is accepting applications to fill current board vacancies in District 1 and District 11 for the 2025-2026 bar year. The Missouri Bar must receive letters of application by Monday, Sept. 8, 2025.

Serving on the Board of Governors is a unique way to get directly involved in the policy-making decisions of The Missouri Bar. The Board of Governors is a 45-member elected group of lawyers who represent the members in their districts. The board helps shape strategies to fulfill the bar’s goals of improving the profession, the law, and access to legal resources on behalf of all Missourians.
Who Is eligible to apply for the board vacancies?
Any person who is in good standing and enrolled to vote in either
District 1 (Counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Chariton, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan and Worth) or
District 11 (St. Louis City) may apply.
A lawyer must be employed or maintain their principal law office full-time in the applicable district to be eligible to apply for the board vacancy.
How will the selection process work?
Letters of application will be distributed to members of the Board of Governors for review and consideration. At a duly called meeting, the Board of Governors will select applicants to fill the vacancies by a majority vote.
What is the duration of the term?
The applicants elected by the board shall serve for the remainder of the regular term, which will expire with the adjournment of the Annual Meeting of The Missouri Bar in September 2026. If eligible to be elected under Supreme Court Rule 7.07, the applicant can submit a nominating petition between Jan. 1 and June 20, 2026, for election to a full two-year term representing the district for which the petition was submitted.

An individual’s letter of application must be received by The Missouri Bar no later than Sept. 8, 2025.
