Board of Governors convenes for final meeting of 2023
The Missouri Bar Board of Governors gathered Nov. 17 in Jefferson City for a regular business meeting. In addition to updates from officers, the board heard special reports from various committees and guests.
The board approved Client Security Fund claims as well as the appointment of Lynne J. Bratcher, of Independence, to the bar’s Complaint Resolution Committee. The meeting also included discussion and adoption of the 2024 operating budget, led by member Jason Paulsmeyer, and an update from Hon. Lisa Hardwick regarding the Missouri Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness.
Andy Briscoe, the bar’s government relations director, provided a preview of the Missouri 2024 legislative session as well as 2024 bar-initiated proposals. The board also reviewed the procedure process for bar-initiated proposals, which will now have a shortened window of 15 days for initial member feedback.
To help lawyers even better serve their clients, the board voted in favor of adding free encryption services as a new member benefit in 2024.
