Board of Governors seeks applicants for St. Louis County vacancy

The Missouri Bar Board of Governors is accepting applications to fill a board vacancy in District 9 which is St. Louis County. Letters of application must be received at The Missouri Bar no later than Nov. 3, 2021. Qualifications and other details are listed below.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Any person who is in good standing and enrolled to vote in District 9, which represents St. Louis County, may apply. The district in which a Missouri lawyer is eligible to vote is determined pursuant to Rule 6.01(i). Please note that pursuant to the rule "the voting place designated shall be the place where the lawyer is employed or maintains his or her principal office for the full-time practice of law."

How will the selection process work?

Letters of application will be distributed to the members of the Board of Governors for review and consideration. At its next regularly scheduled meeting (November 2021), by a majority vote, the Board of Governors will select an applicant to fill the vacancy.

What is the duration of the term?

The applicant elected by the Board shall serve for the remainder of the regular term, which will expire with the adjournment of the annual meeting of The Missouri Bar in September 2023. If eligible to be elected under Supreme Court Rule 7.07, the applicant will be able to submit a nominating petition between Jan. 1 and June 20, 2023, for election to a full two-year term representing District 9.

What is the application deadline? In order to be considered for the vacancy, an individual’s letter of application must be received at The Missouri Bar no later than Nov. 3, 2021.
