The Journal of The Missouri Bar publishes items in the "In Memoriam" section as they are received. To honor the lives and achievements of deceased members, The Missouri Bar solicits additional information about these men and women from family members or printed obituaries. When that information is not provided or is otherwise unavailable, the Journal will print only the deceased’s name, city of residence, and date of death.

Michael S. J. Albano, 76, of Lee’s Summit, on January 22, 2020. Albano graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and practiced for 51 years with the firm now known as Albano, Richard, Welch & Bajackson, LLC. He served in numerous Missouri Bar leadership positions throughout his career.

Thomas Bischof, age 69, of Bloomfield, on June 4, 2020. Bischof attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and joined The Missouri Bar in 1978. He was most recently with Bagby Wealth Management.

James Brickey, age 76, of Louisville, KY, on July 4, 2018. Brickey joined The Missouri Bar in 1978 and previously practiced law in St. Louis.

William F. Brighoff, age 77, of Chesterfield, on November 16, 2019. Brighoff joined The Missouri Bar in 1979.

James Lee Chevalier, age 77, of Central Valley, NY, on October 20, 2019. Chevalier joined The Missouri Bar in 1975 and worked throughout the nation as part of the Department of Defense.

David E. Evans, age 81, of Columbia, on May 21, 2019. Evans served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Saint Louis University Law School. After moving to Columbia, he served as city attorney for several years before returning to private practice.

Charles R. Ferguson, age 76, of Hartsburg, on April 1, 2020. Ferguson graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and joined The Missouri Bar in 1968. He practiced across the state, including in Carrollton, Kansas City, Springfield, and St. Louis. Ferguson served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

Peter S. Gilster, age 79, of Kirkwood, on May 19, 2019. Gilster earned his law degree from the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Army. He practiced intellectual properties law and retired as senior patent counsel at Greensfelder, Hempker & Gale.

Stephen B. Higgins, age 73, of St. Louis, on May 11, 2020. After serving in Vietnam, Higgins earned his law degree from Saint Louis University and practiced in both public and private settings, most recently with Thompson Coburn.

Jeremy Lynn Hodges, age 43, of Jefferson City, on April 22, 2020. Hodges graduated from Cooley Law School in 2012 and was an active member and attorney for the Missouri Federation of Police Chiefs.

Jerome I. Kaskowitz, age 83, of St. Louis, on October 7, 2019. Kaskowitz joined The Missouri Bar in 1960.

John W. Kepler III, age 69, of Olivette, on April 14, 2020. Kepler joined The Missouri Bar in 1986.

Nancy R. Kistler, age 59, of St. Louis, on May 20, 2020. Kistler dedicated 28 years to the City of St. Louis Law Department and served on the judicial commission for the 22nd Circuit from 1997-2003. Kistler joined The Missouri Bar in 1986 after graduating from Washington University School of Law.

Charles E. Kopman, age 84, of St. Louis, on April 1, 2020. Kopman attended the University of Chicago Law School and, after joining The Missouri Bar in 1962, practiced law for 60 years.

Frank E. Metzger Jr., age 93, of St. Louis, on February 6, 2020. Metzger joined The Missouri Bar in 1956.

Lynd K. Mische, age 75, of Overland Park, KS, on August 8, 2019. Mische graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, joined The Missouri Bar in 1970, and was a partner at Gilmore Bell.

John E. Morrison, age 76, of Leland, NC, on September 17, 2019. Morrison graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and, at the time of his retirement, practiced contract law with FDIC.

Joseph Robert Nacy, age 94, of Leesburg, VA, on March 8, 2020. After serving in the Army during WWII, Nacy graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law. Nacy practiced in Jefferson City before relocating to Washington D.C. in 1970, where he served in federal roles.

James L. (Jim) O’Loughlin, age 76, of Moberly, on May 14, 2020. O’Loughlin earned his law degree with Northwestern University and most recently served as general counsel and executive vice president at Orscheln Industries.

Annette Parness, age 63, of Gaithersburg, MD, on December 19, 2019. Parness earned a JD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and held positions at Covance Health, Naviscan, and Montgomery County Agricultural Center.

Jerry L. Redfern, age 84, of Springfield, on June 3, 2020. He earned his law degree from Washington University and spent his legal career at The Law Firm of Neale & Newman. Among other recognitions, Redfern was a past president of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and received a Missouri Bar Pro Bono Publico Award in 1995 as well as the Tom Cochran Community Service Award from the state bar’s Young Lawyers’ Section in 2007.

Alan H. Rosenbloum, age 79, of Gulf Breeze, FL, on November 26, 2019. Rosenbloum joined The Missouri Bar in 1964.

Robert Todd Ryan, age 55, of St. Charles, on January 6, 2020. Ryan joined The Missouri Bar in 1993.

James Ryan, age 63, of St. Louis, on March 5, 2020. Ryan graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law, and he joined The Missouri Bar in 1999. He most recently practiced at The Gori Law Firm.

Lane Strother, age 75, of Mountain Home, AR, on May 25, 2020. Strother studied law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as well as Oxford. He then partnered with his wife to open the Strother Law Firm. Strother served in the U.S. Army, and he joined The Missouri Bar in 1987.

Travis Turner, age 37, of Jefferson City, on May 11, 2020. Turner joined The Missouri Bar in 2009.
