Milton W. Adams, age 98, of Kansas City, on Dec. 31, 2022. Adams was a lawyer at Aughenbaugh and Adams; Gordon, Adams, Niewald, Risjord and Waldeck; Gordon, Adams and Gordon; and The Law Office of Milton W. Adams. He graduated from the University of Kansas City (now known as the University of Missouri-Kansas City) School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1949. Adams served in the U.S. Army.

Franklin H. “Frank” Albrecht, age 65, of St. Louis, on Dec. 27, 2022. He was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1983.

Gary W. Allman, age 80, of Springfield, on Dec. 13, 2022. Allman was Taney County prosecutor and Branson city attorney. He also owned a private practice for 48 years. He attended the University of Missouri School of Law and the George Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1967. Allman served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

John “Jack” Alpers Jr., age 91, of Cabool, on April 16, 2023. Alpers served as Texas County prosecuting attorney and Cabool city attorney. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1959. Alpers served in the U.S. Air Force.

Hon. J. Burleigh Arnold, age 91, of Los Angeles, CA, on March 20, 2023. Arnold served as magistrate judge, assistant attorney general, chief of staff for Gov. John Dalton, and trust office and senior vice president of Central Bank. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1955. Arnold served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

W. H. “Bert” Bates, age 96, of Kansas City, on Oct. 20, 2022. Bates practiced law at Lathrop GPM, where he held several positions, including partner, chairman, of counsel, and senior counselor. Bates was also 1989-90 Missouri Bar president. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1952. Bates served in the U.S. Army.

Zachary P. “Zach” Bealer, age 33, of Kansas City, on Dec. 21, 2022. Bealer was a lawyer at Martinez Immigration Law. He graduated from the Washburn University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2021.

Robert D. “Bob” Beekman, age 79, of St. Louis, on June 2, 2022. Beekman was a lawyer and teacher. He was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1984.

Staunton E. “Stan” Boudreau, age 92, of Jekyll Island, GA, on Feb. 13, 2021. Boudreau was a lawyer at Monsanto Chemical Company. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1967. Boudreau served in the U.S. Army.

Ryan E. Brennan, age 50, of Belleville, IL, on Feb. 15, 2023. Brennan represented railroad employees in Federal Employers Liability Act cases. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2000.

Jim R. Bruce II, age 78, of Kennett, on Feb. 20, 2023. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1979.

Michael M. Burke, age 73, of Kansas City, March 5, 2023. Burke served as general counsel to the Kansas City Port Authority. He graduated from Georgetown Law Center and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1973.

Eugene G. Bushmann, age 89, of Jefferson City, on March 21, 2023. Bushmann was a lawyer at Carson and Coil and served as the Missouri administrative hearing officer. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1960. Bushmann served in the U.S. Navy.

Hon. Ray L. Caskey, age 83, of Alton, on March 12, 2023. Caskey was Oregon County prosecuting attorney, magistrate judge, associate judge, and circuit judge. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1967.

Richard J. Collins Jr., age 96, of St. Louis, on Jan. 7, 2022. Collins was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1950.

John S. Cullinane, age 73, of Kirkwood, on July 29, 2022. Cullinane was a healthcare lawyer for 38 years. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1979.

Barry Cundiff, age 61, of Kirksville, on April 1, 2023. Cundiff practiced law at Frick & Cundiff P.C. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1986.

Teresa L. Davis, age 59, of Mooresville, NC, on Feb. 15, 2023. Davis was acting assistant director of the FOIA/Privacy Act Unit for the Department of Justice Executive Office for United States Attorneys, as well as field attorney and ethics counsel for the Transportation Security Administration. She graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1993. Davis served in the U.S. Air Force as a judge advocate.

Karen M. Eisenhauer, age 60, of Ballwin, on April 22, 2022. Eisenhauer was a lawyer at Eisenhauer Law Firm and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2016.

Frederick H. Eppenberger, age 78, of St. Louis, on Jan. 27, 2022. Eppenberger was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1969.

Hon. Ronald F. “Ron” Fisk, age 81, of Nevada, on Oct. 30, 2022. Fisk served as a circuit judge and was a solo practitioner. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1974.

Edward L. “Ed” FitzGerald, age 86, of Kansas City, on Jan. 24, 2023. FitzGerald was Jackson County assistant prosecuting attorney and partner at Downey, Sullivan, and FitzGerald. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1961.

Patricia B. Frank, age 53, of St. Louis, on Sept. 27, 2022. Frank was an insurance defense lawyer for 27 years. She graduated from the Ohio State University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1996.

Hon. Robert E. George, age 71, of Republic, on Aug. 26, 2022. George served as Lawrence County prosecutor and associate judge for the 39th Judicial Circuit Court. He also opened a private practice in Aurora. He graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1986.

Paul S. Giordano, age 59, of Mission Hills, KS, on Oct. 1, 2022. Giordano was managing principal of Euclid Surety. He graduated from Harvard Law School and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2019.

Jack D. Gorham, age 65, of Richmond, on Oct. 4, 2020. Gorham was partner and co-owner of a law firm in Richmond. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1983.

Lawrence Bovard Grebel, age 72, of St. Louis, on Feb. 2, 2023. Grebel served in leadership roles at several legal organizations and was lead trial counsel in the Kansas City Hyatt Regency skywalk collapse litigation. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1977.

R. Michael Gunn, age 77, of Kansas City, on Feb. 10, 2022. Gunn founded Gunn, Shank and Stover. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1972.

Joseph A. “Joe” Haverstick, age 65, of Columbia, on Dec. 20, 2022. Haverstick was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1990.

Dupree P. Heard, age 83, of St. Clair, on March 24, 2022. Heard worked with the Merit Systems Protection Board in St. Louis for 25 years. He graduated from the Boston College School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1980. Heard served in the U.S. Air Force.

Peggy S. Hedrick, age 86, of Kansas City, on Jan. 18, 2023. Hedrick was a Springfield lawyer for 30 years. She graduated from the University of La Verne School of Law and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1981.

Robert S. Herman, age 67, of Leawood, KS, on June 8, 2022. He was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1987.

Peter B. Howard, age 64, of St. Louis, on Jan. 21, 2023. Howard was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2000.

Janee N. Johnson, age 33, of St. Ann, on Dec. 29, 2022. Johnson was director of development of opportunities for women at FamilyForward and executive director of Missouri Health Care for All. She graduated from the Boston University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2020.

Sylvia Mary Timpson Kahn, age 84, of Great Sankey, Warrington, on June 20, 2021. Kahn was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1992.

Mary Elizabeth Kurt, age 56, of Kansas City, on Aug. 19, 2022. Kurt was a lawyer at Husch Blackwell, LLP. She was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1991.

David T. Lumerman, age 76, of St. Louis, on March 7, 2023. Lumerman was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1973.

Frank B. “Bill” McCollum, age 80, of Kansas City, on Nov. 28, 2021. McCollum was a civil litigator at Spencer Fane as well as Slagel, Bernard & Gorman. He graduated from the Duke University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1970. McCollum served in the U.S. Navy.

Harry O. Moline, age 87, of St. Louis, on Aug. 7, 2022. Moline was a securities and commercial litigation lawyer at Moline and Mehan. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1962. Moline served in the U.S. Navy.

Sanford Seymour Neuman, age 87, of St. Louis, on April 17, 2023. Neuman founded the Gallop, Johnson & Neuman law firm and was a partner at Polsinelli. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1959.

Jonathan D. Osborne, age 46, of Springfield, on Nov. 30, 2022. Osborne worked in the Missouri Department of Social Services Legal Services Division. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 2004.

Keith D. Patten, age 72, of Kirkwood, on Feb. 15, 2023. Patten practiced law in St. Louis and was proprietor of Patten Books. He was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1976.

William S. “Bill” Perkins, age 77, of Thayer, on March 15, 2023. Perkins served as Oregon County prosecuting attorney and Thayer city attorney. He graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1971.

Arnold T. Phillips Jr., age 78, of Honolulu, HI, on Jan. 27, 2023. Phillips was a solo practitioner in Missouri and Hawaii. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1970.

Stanley M. “Stan” Rea Jr., age 80, of St. Louis, on Nov. 7, 2022. Rea was vice president and general counsel of Ralston Purina. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1974. Rea served in the U.S. Army.

William B. “Bill” Roberts, age 83, of Chapel Hill, TN, on Nov. 1, 2022. Roberts was executive vice president/general counsel and secretary at Chromalloy American. He also worked in private practice in Chesterfield and Naples, FL, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, business brokerage, and professional athlete advisement. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1964.

Stephen D. Smith, age 73, of Sumter, SC, on March 16, 2023. Smith was assistant/associate dean at the Saint Louis University School of Law. He graduated from SLU and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1976.

Richard S. Snyder, age 84, of St. Louis, on Nov. 16, 2022. Snyder practiced in general civil law. He founded Richard S. Snyder Law Offices and was a partner with Gage & Tucker Law Firm; McCarter, Snyder & Greenley; and Rassieur, Long, Yawitz & Schneider. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1965.

David C. Stover, age 78, of Lee’s Summit, on April 7, 2023. Stover was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1975.

Marjorie Bedrick Tarkow, age 76, of Columbia, on Jan. 15, 2023. Tarkow specialized in labor and employment law. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1984.

Kenneth F. Teasdale, age 88, of St. Louis, on Feb. 14, 2023. Teasdale was chairman of Armstrong Teasdale and general counsel to the Democratic Policy Committee of the U.S. Senate. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1961.

Curtis F. “Curt” Thompson, age 73, of Jefferson City, on Jan. 25, 2023. Thompson was assistant counsel and district counsel for the Missouri Department of Transportation and chief counsel of the Governmental Affairs Division. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1974.

Thomas E. “Tom” Thompson, age 79, of Kansas City, on Oct. 11, 2022. Thompson practiced law for over 50 years and was a senior counselor with The Missouri Bar. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1968.

Karl H. Timmerman, age 73, of Pascagoula, MS, on Nov. 30, 2021. Timmerman was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1982.

Matthew F. Trokey, age 62, of Branson, on March 22, 2023. Trokey was a lawyer at Neale and Newman and Cantwell, Allman & Smith (now Cantwell, Smith & Trokey, LLP). He graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1988.

Stephen C. Turley, age 68, of St. Louis, on Jan. 1, 2023. Turley graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1979.

Anthony F. Vaiana, age 87, of St. Louis, on Dec. 17, 2022. Vaiana graduated from the Washington University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1958.

Hon. Paul E. Vardeman Jr., age 92, of Kansas City, on Oct. 20, 2022. Vardeman served as circuit judge for 18 years and later practiced at Polsinelli, White, Schulte and Vardeman. Vardeman received The Missouri Bar’s 1959 Lon Hocker Award. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1953.

Thomas A. Vetter Sr., age 87, of Jefferson City, on Feb. 24, 2023. Vetter founded Cook, Vetter, Doerhoff and Landwehr. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1964. Vetter served on The Missouri Bar Board of Governors, was chairman of the Journal of The Missouri Bar Editorial Board, and wrote the Journal’s “The Flag” for 20 years. Vetter served in the U.S. Air Force.

Hon. Floyd Randall Waltz III, age 79, of Jefferson City, on Jan. 4, 2023. Waltz served as Cole County magistrate court judge before going into private practice. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1972. Waltz served in the U.S. Navy.

William K. “Bill” Waugh III, age 79, of Prairie Village, KS, on Aug. 27, 2022. Waugh was an estate and tax lawyer at Lathrop Law Firm. He graduated from the Kansas University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1968.

Robert “Bob” Welling, age 92, of Warrensburg, on March 27, 2022. Welling operated a private practice in Warrensburg for 60 years and was recipient of The Missouri Bar President’s Award in 1985. He graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1955. Welling served in the U.S. Army.

Gayle Catherine Williams, age 71, of Florissant, on March 13, 2022. Williams was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1976.

Victoria S. “Vikki” Williams, age 69, of Tucson, AZ, on Feb. 16, 2022. Williams worked at Policy Studies Inc. in Denver, CO. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1978.

Kathy L. Wood, age 66, of St. Joseph, on Oct. 1, 2020. Wood worked at Legal Aid before entering private practice. She graduated from the Washburn University School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1980.

Marie Ann Yoakum, age 63, of Cleveland, on July 25, 2019. Yoakum was a lawyer with United Biosource. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1994.
