To honor the lives and achievements of deceased members, The Missouri Bar solicits additional information about these men and women from family members or printed obituaries. When that information is not provided or is otherwise unavailable, the Journal will print only the deceased’s name, city of residence, and date of death.

Roy W. Agnew Jr., age 93, of Boise, Idaho, on April 24, 2019. Agnew served in the U.S. Navy and attended Washington University School of Law. Agnew spent much of his career working in the commercial insurance claims industry.

Francis Lee Barkofske, age 80, of St. Louis, on July 11, 2019. Barkofske attended Saint Louis University School of Law and joined The Missouri Bar in 1963. His career included time in private practice and senior leadership with Missouri Pacific Corporation, Peabody Holding Company, Bunge Corporation, and Ziegler Coal Holding Company.

Clyde O. Bowles Jr., age 91, of Chicago, Illinois, on October 12, 2018. Bowles earned his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1951 and practiced in his hometown of Kansas City for three years before moving to Chicago.

Saul Boyarsky, age 95, of Durham, North Carolina, on January 15, 2019. Boyarsky served in the U.S. Army and was a urology physician for several years before obtaining a J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1981. He used his law degree in St. Louis for tort reform and malpractice matters.

Howard J. Falcon Jr., age 90, of Palm Beach, Florida, on July 7, 2017. Falcon served in the U.S. Navy before attending the University of Virginia Law School and graduating in 1953. He joined The Missouri Bar in 1954.

Sonya Edwards Faiella, age 52, of Moberly, on November 11, 2019. Faiella earned a J.D. in 1993 from Western New England School of Law, and she most recently practiced with Gump & Faiella, LLC.

Max W. Foust, age 90, of Kansas City, on March 7, 2018. Foust graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law with a J. D. in 1954. He then formed his own law firm, where he practiced for more than 50 years. Among other leadership roles, he was a past president of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

Louis Joseph Garr Jr., age 79, of St. Louis, on October 23, 2019. Garr graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1964 and practiced law for the May Department Stores Company, rising to the ranks of executive vice president and general counsel before retiring in 1998.

Randy Lee Gori, age 47, of Edwardsville, Illinois, on January 4, 2020. Gori graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1998 and owned The Gori Law Firm, P.C.

Russell John Greenhagen Jr., age 77, of Jefferson City, on November 24, 2019. Greenhagen earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1986 and in 1995 moved to Jefferson City to head a new mediation division for the Missouri Department of Labor.

John David Hacker, age 39, of Springfield, on November 19, 2019. Hacker attended Creighton University School of Law, joined The Missouri Bar in 2005, and practiced with the Law Office of John D. Hacker.

William Francis James, age 79, of St. Louis, on December 7, 2019. James attended the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. He was a partner in the law firm of Wuestling & James and received the Lon O. Hocker Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation in 1969.

James L. LeGrande, age 83, of Fort Myers, Florida, on December 10, 2019. LeGrande earned a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma and joined The Missouri Bar in 1962.

Thomas M. Richards, age 93, of Webster Groves, on February 21, 2019. Richards joined The Missouri Bar in 1949.

Alexander “Sandy” Robb, age 61, of Blue Springs, on May 18, 2019. Robb joined The Missouri Bar in 1995.

Richard A. Rubins, age 89, of Leawood, Kansas, on October 24, 2019. Rubins joined The Missouri Bar in 1953.

Charles M. M. Shepherd, age 89, of Frontenac, on October 30, 2019. Shepherd received his J.D. from Washington University in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army. He was in private practice for more than 60 years at his Clayton office.

James P. Tierney, age 91, of Kansas City, on February 5, 2019. Tierney attended Harvard Law School and returned to his hometown of Kansas City to practice at Kemp, Koontz, Clagett and Norquist (now Lathrop Gage), where he was later named managing partner.

Michael Voorhees, age 76, of Johnston, Iowa, on March 1, 2018. Voorhees attended Drake University Law School and joined The Missouri Bar in 1969.

Hon. Matt Jeffrey Whitworth, age 61, of Kansas City, on October 8, 2019. Whitworth attended the University of Arkansas School of Law and joined The Missouri Bar in 1983, receiving a Lon O. Hocker Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation in 1992. He was most recently a magistrate judge for the Western District of Missouri.
