Learn to enhance observation, communication skills at MOSOLO

MOSOLO plenary As a lawyer, your observation, perception, and communication skills are essential.

The plenaries at this year’s MOSOLO Small Firm Conference, June 11-13 in Osage Beach and June 24-26 virtually, will teach you how to enhance these skills so you can even better serve your clients.

Plenary one: “The art of perception: See what matters”

Amy Herman, a lawyer and art historian, uses works of art to help others sharpen their observation, analysis, and communication skills. She leads sessions for a variety of organizations including the FBI, Fortune 500 companies, and the military. She has also written three books.

In her highly participatory workshop, lawyers will revisit the application of their perception skills and their ability to communicate concisely and effectively in a variety of legal contexts.

Participants will refresh their vision of existing resources to encourage creative problem-solving, reconsider the role of precise communication in messaging, vision, and strategy, refresh their sense of critical inquiry, and incorporate multiple perspectives in critical decision-making to broaden their vision and overcome cognitive bias.

Plenary two: "Communication breakdown - It's always the same (But it's avoidable)"

The second MOSOLO plenary, presented by Barron Henley, will cover communication breakdowns and how to avoid them.

A high percentage of malpractice practice claims and practice management problems are caused by communication breakdowns. These communication problems can create dissatisfied clients, decrease productivity, and cause conflict.

Henley, a lawyer and founding partner of Affinity Consulting Group, will explain technologies and techniques lawyers can use to improve communication, lower stress, improve service, generate happier clients, and lower malpractice risk.

Henley teaches classes for law firms, legal departments, and CLE providers throughout the U.S. and Canada covering a wide variety of topics related to law practice management, legal tech, and ethics.

In addition to the plenaries, the MOSOLO breakout sessions will focus on a variety of topics solo and small firm lawyers need to know, including ethical AI use, how to execute a voir dire strategy, and more. Networking events and dinners will provide many opportunities to make new connections.
