Legislative Update: General Assembly set to deliver legislation to governor for action

TRULY AGREED TO AND FINALLY PASSED LEGISLATION  
2023 Regular Session

During the 2023 Regular Session, 1,388 House bill were introduced.  Of these bills, the House third read 160 (11.53%), and 26 of those bills (1.87 %) were Truly Agreed To and Finally Passed.  Thus far, one House bill has been enacted (signed into law by the governor). 

There were 723 Senate bills introduced.  Of these bills, the Senate third read 70 (9.68%), and 32 (4.43%) were Truly Agreed To and Finally Passed. 

Out of the 2,111 bills introduced during this session, a little more than 10% were approved in their chamber of origin and only 2.73% were approved by the General Assembly and sent to the governor for consideration.

There were 66 joint resolutions (proposed constitutional amendments) introduced in the House.  Of these, the House third read 5 joint resolutions (7.58%), and none were Truly Agreed To and Finally Passed. 

There were 47 joint resolutions introduced in the Senate, and the Senate third read 4 joint resolutions (8.51%).  Only one (2.13%) was Truly Agreed To and Finally Passed.  This joint resolution will be submitted directly to the voters at the November 2024 general election.
