Mary Douglas has helped #MOLawyers for 30 years

Mary DouglasFor the last 30 years, Mary Douglas has watched The Missouri Bar, its members, and the legal profession evolve. And as the electronic media specialist, she is proud that she has played a role in helping Missouri lawyers even better serve their clients for about three decades.

In 1986, Douglas started working at the bar. She supports several departments by helping with maintaining The Missouri Bar’s website, sending email communications to bar members, and helping with Spring and Fall Committee Meetings and Annual Meeting, among other duties.

Douglas is heavily involved in the weekly ESQ. email that goes to all Missouri Bar members for the last 20 years. ESQ. highlights important news, announcements, case law summaries, in memoriam, member benefits, and more. Missouri Bar members can subscribe to ESQ. here.

“No day is the same, whether it’s because I’m doing work for a different department, looking at HTML coding, pulling data from our membership database, or I’m proofing emails,” Douglas said. “And I like learning new things, whether it’s because of changing technology or changing how we do things.”

Douglas’ passion for helping Missouri lawyers continuously shines through, but Missouri Bar members aren’t the only people Douglas said she enjoys working with. She also praised her coworkers for their consideration, willingness to help each other, and ability to work as a team.

“Although I am looking forward to retirement in a couple of years, I will always be grateful for being able to work here,” Douglas said. “I am grateful for the new, young faces that bring in their creativity, enthusiasm, and new ideas, and for those that I have been privileged to work with for many years.”

Outside of work, Douglas enjoys walking on nature and park trails, fishing, reading, and spending time with her family.
