2019 2020 Board of governors Christa M

This summer, lawyers of Missouri, voting in districts throughout the state, elected new members to the 45-member Board of Governors of The Missouri Bar. Board members are elected to serve two-year terms, which begin with the bar’s Annual Meeting in late September.

Christa Moss, Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. David P. Rush, Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, was elected to represent lawyers in the Southern District Diversity Seat. Here, she discusses her goals for her time on the board.

What made you interested in joining the Board of Governors?

Having the opportunity to be a part of the 2014-2015 Missouri Bar Leadership Class was very influential in exposing me to The Missouri Bar and all the great work, programs, benefits and services it provides for members and the community. Shortly after finishing Leadership Academy, my family briefly moved out of state and I quickly realized what an amazing organization The Missouri Bar was. As soon as we returned to Missouri, I knew it was something I wanted to be more involved in.

What part of being on the board are you most excited about?

I’m really looking forward to engaging more with attorneys from across the state during all the various meetings and events, as well as having the opportunity to advocate for more diversity initiatives and having a role in developing even stronger relationships between The Missouri Bar and local bars.

What do you want lawyers from your district to know?

I am very passionate about the community where I live and will work hard to make sure the voice of our area is always represented and considered.

What are some of your hobbies?

I have coached volleyball for nine years and love mentoring and working with youth and young adults. I also love traveling and experiencing different cultures but spend most of my time enjoying the company of my friends and family.
