Meet your Board of Governors: John Spencer, District 1

This August, lawyers of Missouri, voting in districts throughout the state, elected new members to The Missouri Bar Board of Governors. Board members are elected to serve two-year terms, which begin in the fall, following the bar’s Annual Meeting.

John Spencer, a partner in Tieman, Spencer & Hicks, LLC, was elected to represent lawyers in District 1, which is situated in the northwest portion of the state.

Spencer, who previously served on the bar’s Young Lawyers’ Section Council, said he has been looking forward for the opportunity to join the Board of Governors for some time. He hopes to foster a closer connection between District 1 and the bar at large, noting that the district’s large geographic size makes it more challenging for its members to gather and find programming.

I will work to entice more visits from serving justices at all levels, as well as professional responsibility programs and events,” Spencer said. Most importantly, I hope to find some opportunities for all of us to share some fellowship socially, in locations that most of us may reach without extensive travel across the district.

Spencer said he encourages any members of the bar to reach out to him with thoughts or ideas.

“My door is always open to all,” Spencer said.
