Meet your new District 3 YLS representative: Jackson Hobbs

Jackson Hobbs was recently elected to represent District 3 on The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council, which encompasses Jackson County. YLS works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.  

Hobbs is an associate with Lathrop GPM, where he counsels and litigates for corporate clients, chief executives, business owners, and other individuals involved in high-stakes government investigations and civil and criminal enforcement actions. 

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He was also a member of the 2023-2024 Leadership Academy class.  

Hobbs answered the following questions to help his constituents get to know him. 

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?  

“I am most looking forward to working with and making connections with other members on the YLS Council, and young lawyers across the state.” 

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar? 

“I think making other young lawyers aware of all the different committees and events that YLS puts on is important. I also want to emphasize that all young lawyers are invited to join in the events and initiatives of YLS.” 

Who is your personal hero? 

“One of my personal heroes is my adult special needs sister. I am constantly amazed by her desire to connect with others, her outstanding dedication to various sports teams, and her optimistic outlook on life and the experiences we have with members of our family and community. She is a great reminder and inspiration for me to be grateful for all that we have and for the opportunities to work and serve others.” 

What is your favorite way to spend a day off? 

“My favorite way to spend a day off is hanging out with my wife and our two French bulldogs, Paul and Dwayne.” 

Is there anything that you would like members of the bar to know about you? 

“I would like others to know that I am so grateful and excited for the chance to serve on the YLS Council and make connections with other young lawyers across Missouri. If you’re ever in KC, let’s catch up. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you at a YLS event soon.”
