Meet your new District 8 YLS Council member: Courtney Y. Chen

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section works to facilitate the public service and professional development of newly admitted Missouri lawyers. Courtney Y. Chen has been elected to represent YLS members in District 8, St. Louis County. Chen is an associate in Armstrong Teasdale’s litigation practice group, where she handles an array of disputes for clients in numerous industries.

Courtney Y. Chen

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member? I hope for more opportunities to perform public services such as community service projects and pro bono programs. I am excited to access more resources, including a larger platform, that I can utilize to accomplish these goals.

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar? I am a new council member and pretty new to the practice of law, having just been admitted September 2020. In my brief time with YLS, I have found it to be comprised of richly diverse individuals who are kind, fun loving, and active in their respective legal communities.

Who is your personal hero? My parents. They are first generation immigrants who came with nothing and gave me everything. It doesn’t hurt that my father knows how to make a killer bowl of 20- cent ramen noodles.
