Meet your new YLS Council Members for District 8

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of newly admitted Missouri lawyers. Recent elections to the YLS Council have resulted in new members in District 8, which serves St. Louis County. Learn more about YLS at MOBarYLS.org.

Khris Johnson-Deloatch

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?

Serving communities across the state and getting to know other young attorneys who have a passion for the same.

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar?

There are so so so many resources available for young attorneys, almost anything you can think about needing for your practice MoBar has a resource for it.

Who is your personal hero?

Muhammed Ali & John Lewis – for their courage, and how they used their platform to be a voice for those who did not have a seat at the table.

Is there anything you would like to add or that you would like members of the bar to know about you?

I love college sports mainly college football and basketball, and I am foodie!

Paige Sparks

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?

I am on the Citizenship/Education/Outreach and Community Service committees, so I am really looking forward to becoming involved in those areas and assisting with outreach to other young lawyers.

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar?

I hope other young lawyers can learn more about the many public service opportunities YLS provides and find the community outreach to be rewarding when they give back. I am a fairly new attorney, and I would like to see other young attorneys become more involved in YLS to assist with the public service projects, Continuing Legal Education programs, and join the networking events.

Who is your personal hero?

As cliché as it may sound, my mother is my hero. I'm a first-generation lawyer, and I would sometimes see my mom struggle to make ends meet growing up, which taught me a lot about tenacity and perseverance. I don't think I would have been able to go after as many opportunities if I hadn't learned that from her at an early age.

Is there anything you would like to add or that you would like members of the bar to know about you?

When I'm not working, you can usually find me at the barn with my horse for some peace and quiet. I'm a huge animal lover and I'm looking to acquire some more pets after moving to a bigger farm hopefully later this year!
