Meet your new YLS Council members for Kansas City

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of newly admitted Missouri lawyers. Recent elections to the YLS Council have resulted in two new members in District 3, which serves Jackson County in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Learn more about YLS at MOBarYLS.org.

Whitney L. Fay

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?

I am most looking forward to serving my fellow young lawyers and meeting new colleagues from across the state.

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar?

The Bar and YLS have lots of great resources for lawyers and non-lawyers alike! Everyone should feel comfortable making use of those.

Who is your personal hero?

My dad, fellow lawyer Elton Fay (he’s long past YLS membership!). He has his flaws like anyone else, but he has set an excellent example of personal generosity and servant-leadership throughout my life.

What else would you like to add?

I am a big fan of historical dramas and horror movies. I’m always looking for good recommendations!

Kamillia M. Scott

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?

I am most looking forward to making a positive difference in the community and building my professional network.

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar?

The Bar and YLS serve both lawyers and non-lawyers in Missouri, so anyone with a law-related inquiry should look to them as a resource.

Who is your personal hero?

My great, great, great-grandma is my hero. A woman of afro-indigenous descent, she was the last know slave in my family here in Missouri.

Is there anything else you would like members to know about you?

I love cats! I have two cats of my own, but during quarantine, I fostered a litter of six kittens from birth to adoption. It was quite a life-changing and magical experience.
