Meet your new YLS Council representative– Cassidy Johnston, District 2

Cassidy Johnston Dis 2 Rep

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section (YLS) works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri Lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.

Cassidy Johnston was recently elected to represent District 2 on the YLS Council. District 2 covers the northeast corner of Missouri and includes 20 counties.

After graduating from Creighton University School of Law in 2020, Johnston began her career at the James McConnell Law Office. She practiced there for two years before joining her current firm, Gump, Faiella, and Bugalski in Moberly. She focuses on family law, criminal law, estate planning, probate law, real estate transactions, and personal injury.

Johnston answered the following questions to help her constituents get to know her.

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?

I am most looking forward to networking with other YLS members and working alongside some great lawyers to come up with better ways to improve the profession, especially for those starting out.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?

If I only had a day, I would most likely spend it with family or friends. If I had more than one day, I would travel to a new state. It’s on my bucket list to visit all 50 states before I die, so if I had an extended weekend then I would book a trip to somewhere new.

Is there anything that you would like members of the bar to know about you?

I was born and raised in Shelby County and am currently working in Randolph County. It was always my goal to return to northeast Missouri to practice law because I was very much aware of the need for any profession in a rural area in Missouri. It is my goal to be able to promote the profession for all counties in District 2.
