Meet your new YLS District 11 representative: Brett Hodges

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council recently elected Brett Hodges to represent District 11 (Christian, Douglas, Greene, Howell, Ozark, Stone, Taney, Webster and Wright counties). 

YLS works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.    

Hodges earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2024. He is an associate attorney with Carnahan Evans PC, in Springfield.  

Hodges answered the following questions to help his constituents get to know him. 

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member? 

“I’m most looking forward to connecting with the broader legal community. As lawyers, we have a tendency to only interact with people who are in our own practice area. There’s a whole state full of individuals performing legal services that I have limited experience with, and I’m very much looking forward to getting to learn about those areas of law.” 

What is your favorite way to spend a day off? 

“I most enjoy spending my days off doing outdoor related activities. I enjoy everything from hunting and fishing to hiking and even gardening. Really, the only requirement I have for a day off is that it’s spent outside.” 

Is there anything you would like to add? 

“I would just like to add that I feel incredibly privileged to represent the young lawyers of the southwest Missouri area. This area, along with the people in it, has been absolutely wonderful, and I cannot imagine a better place to have begun my career in law.”
