Meet your new YLS District 8 representative: Darrian Castro

Darrian Castro was recently elected to represent District 8 on The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council, which encompasses St. Louis County. YLS works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.  

Castro is an associate counsel at Mercy in Chesterfield where he provides counsel in health care regulation and compliance, transactions and acquisitions, employment law, hospital and clinic operations, medical staff and accreditation, and other areas essential to health care. He earned his J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law. 

Castro answered the following questions to help his constituents get to know him. 

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?  

“I am most looking forward to using my leadership and interpersonal skills to help facilitate professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers.” 

What made you want to be a lawyer in the first place? 

“I have always felt a calling to help others. That is what motivates me and is important to me. I wanted to join a profession that provided me that opportunity in numerous ways.” 

What is your favorite way to spend a day off? 

“My favorite way to spend a day off is to be surrounded by family and friends and enjoying good food!”
