Meet your new YLS District 9 representative: Brad Baker

_YLS Council District 9 - Baker

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council recently elected Brad Baker to represent District 9 (City of St. Louis).  

YLS works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.  

Baker earned his J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 2021. He is a litigation attorney for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office in St. Louis. 

Baker answered the following questions to help his constituents get to know him. 

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member? 

"I am most looking forward to the opportunity to connect with other young attorneys across Missouri and to make a positive contribution to our profession. My goal is to strengthen The Missouri Bar by ensuring that the perspectives of young attorneys are represented and valued.”  

What made you want to be a lawyer in the first place? 

"I have always been drawn to public service and to making a difference in my community. Becoming a lawyer has opened up many doors and has given me the opportunity to make a real impact. I feel very blessed to have found such a fulfilling profession.” 

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about YLS or The Missouri Bar? 

"I want other young lawyers to learn more about the wide range of resources that are available to them through both YLS and The Missouri Bar. When I first started practicing, I was amazed by the depth of networking and leadership opportunities that are readily available, and I want the young lawyers in Missouri to fully take advantage of these programs.” 

Is there anything that you would like members of the bar to know about you? 

"Through my work as an attorney for the State of Missouri, I’ve been fortunate to practice law in courtrooms all across our state. This experience has given me a broad perspective on the unique legal issues faced in both rural and urban communities. It has been rewarding to witness firsthand how the law impacts every corner of the state differently, and I believe this statewide perspective will allow me to better serve the young lawyers all throughout Missouri.”
