Meet your new YLS District 9 representative: Michael Figenshau

Michael Figenshau District 9 (1)

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council recently elected Michael Figenshau to represent District 9 (City of St. Louis). YLS works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.

Figenshau earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law. After graduating in 2021, he joined Gray Ritter Graham where his practice primarily focuses on wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and commercial litigation. He is an alumnus of the 2022-2023 Leadership Academy class.

Figenshau answered the following questions to help his constituents get to know him.

What would you like other lawyers to know about YLS or the Missouri Bar?

“I would like other young lawyers to learn about all the services and programs that The Missouri Bar and YLS offer.”

What made you want to be a lawyer in the first place?

“As a kid, I watched ‘Forensic Files’ religiously. The investigative techniques and trial strategies I learned from that show continue to inspire me.”

Is there anything that you would like members of the bar to know about you?

“I am open to constructive criticism, and I look forward to working with other members of the bar.”
