Meet your new YLS representative District 9: Killian Walsh

Killian Walsh was recently elected to represent District 9 on The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council, which encompasses the City of St. Louis. YLS works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.

Walsh earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Lindenwood University and her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law. She currently works as a senior attorney with Knight Nicastro MacKay LLC, where she represents industry clients in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas. Her trial practice focuses on insurance defense, transportation, premises liability, and large property loss claims.

In her free time Walsh enjoys spending time outside running, biking, or with her two dogs. She is also a cycling instructor with TruFusion in St. Louis.

Walsh answered the following questions to help her constituents get to know her.

What are you most looking forward to in your role as a YLS Council member?

“I’m looking forward to meeting other lawyers and making positive changes for members of the bar.”

What do you want other young lawyers to learn about the YLS or The Missouri Bar?

“All the benefits it offers that aren’t common practice and the networking opportunities.”

What made you want to be a lawyer in the first place?

“I have always been an advocate. When I was in high school, I read ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ and knew that I wanted to advocate as a career. I used to want to be an actress but didn’t want to do what it took. This is the next best thing because we have to do a lot of performing.”

Who is your personal hero?

“I don’t think I have a specific hero, but I am always in awe of working mothers.”
