Missouri Bar Board of Governors, YLS Council set to meet next week

The Missouri Bar’s Board of Governors, comprised of Missouri lawyers elected by their peers to represent their respective geographical areas, will convene Friday, July 19, in Branson.

In addition to hearing financial updates and officers’ reports, the board will discuss appointments to the Legal Services of Southern Missouri Board of Directors and hear from the bar’s Resolution Committee. Missouri Bar Government Relations Director Andy Briscoe will be onsite to share about the 2024 state legislative session while Shelly Dreyer and Doug Harris are scheduled to present the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee report.

Additional discussion will center on the board’s 2024-2025 vice president candidate forum as well as candidates to fill the Eastern District Appellate seat.

The Board of Governors meets several times a year to conduct the business of The Missouri Bar and keep abreast of issues. See past meeting minutes, as well as future meeting dates, here.

The Missouri Bar’s Young Lawyers’ Section Council will also convene in Branson next week. Discussions will focus on the council budget year to date as well as projects and activities that it intends to support for the remainder of the year. 

New council members will also be introduced, and members that attended the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Spring Conference in Omaha, NE, will report on business from those meetings. 

Finally, the council will elect a delegate to serve on The Missouri Bar Board of Governors.
