Missouri Bar to close for Thanksgiving 2020

The Missouri Bar will be closed Nov. 26-27, 2020, in observance of Thanksgiving. 

The history of this day of gratitude reaches far back into the timeline of our country. However, it was not until 1863 that the day became an official holiday. As the Civil War raged, Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that a national day of Thanksgiving be held on the last Thursday of each November.

Later, during the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt attempted to move Thanksgiving Day up a week but was met with deep opposition by the American people. In 1941, he signed a bill making the fourth Thursday in November Thanksgiving Day.

In observance of the holiday, The Missouri Bar Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and Nov. 27.
