Missouri lawyers helped 1,100 Missourians through Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org since January

Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org is a free virtual legal advice clinic where qualifying users can post civil legal questions to be answered by volunteer lawyers. This service is provided as a partnership between the American Bar Association and The Missouri Bar. There are no other online formats in Missouri to submit civil legal questions and receive pro bono answers.

1,500 new clients signed up in 2025.

Of the 1,300 questions submitted so far this year, 45 volunteer lawyers responded to 1,150 of those questions, assisting 1,100 clients, and donating more than 360 hours of their time providing legal answers. The response rate for 2025 so far is 89%.

Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org impact

The American Bar Association (ABA) launched Free Legal Answers nationally in August 2016. 42 states and other U.S. jurisdictions participate in ABA Free Legal Answers. The Missouri Bar has offered Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org to Missouri citizens since 2017.

Besides state websites, the program includes a federal portal that addresses legal questions from all over the U.S. related to veterans and immigration issues.
