Missouri lawyers inspire students with Constitution Day presentations

More than 600 Missouri students had the opportunity to learn about the U.S. Constitution from lawyers during the annual Constitution Day presentations in September 2024. 

Each year, The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section partners with the citizenship education department to send lawyers to present to students for Constitution Day. This year, more than 600 students across the state had the opportunity to learn about the U.S. Constitution from those who regularly interact with it. 

Roger Ball, an 8th-grade social studies teacher at Aurora Junior High School, praised the program's impact on his students.  

"The Constitution Day presentation was very informative for the students to learn about the judicial branch,” Ball said. “Mr. (Jeff) Goodnight (with Ozarks Legacy Law) did a wonderful job with our students that day.” 

Participating lawyers encouraged others to present next year and help inspire students about government and law. 

"Speaking to the youth of Missouri is rewarding and challenging," Goodnight said. "In today's world, more than ever, I believe that our youth need to understand their inherent rights and the value of the rule of law in our society."
