St. Louis Area 

Danna McKitrick, P.C. has announced that Hannah E. Mudd has joined the firm as an associate on the transaction team.

As a member of the team, Mudd advises clients on a variety of corporate and business transactions including entrepreneurial, real estate, banking, employment, and corporate formation and governance matters.

Her background includes experience in an array of areas from regulatory compliance, foreclosures, contract analysis and drafting, and employment matters to business formation with start-ups. Mudd advises her clients proactively to address and minimize risk while working strategically to reach the best outcomes for her clients.

Mudd earned her J.D. degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2018. She graduated with a B.A. in history and political science from Saint Mary’s College in Indiana in 2014.

Mudd volunteers for a variety of organizations in St. Louis and is an active member of the Saint Mary’s Alumnae St. Louis Club, the Missouri History Museum, and the Missouri Botanical Garden.

David Corwin announces the formation of Corwin Law Group LLC. Formerly with Sher Corwin Winters LLC, Corwin has practiced law and been a member of The Missouri Bar since 1988. The new firm will continue to focus on plaintiff's personal injury, mass tort, commercial and class action cases.

The Missouri State Pubic Defender System makes the following announcements:

Abraham Copi has joined the St. Louis appellate/post-conviction relief "A" office.

Cynthia “Cindy” Finney, Ryan Hehner, Sarah Johnson, Casey Rodgers and Katelyn Young have joined the St. Louis children’s defense team. Finney and Hehner formerly served as assistant public defenders in the St. Louis City trial office. Johnson formerly served as deputy district defender in the St. Louis City trial office.

Andrew Cook, Nora Curran, and Mia Griffin have joined the St. Louis City trial office.

Lacy Heiskell and Paula Gutierrez have joined the Clayton office.

Sam Lawrence has joined the St. Louis commitment defense unit. He formerly served as assistant public defender in the Clayton office.

Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice announces the following additions to the firm:

Jennifer Maloney has joined the St. Louis office as a member. Previously of counsel with the St. Louis firm Heyl Royster, Maloney’s practice is focused on civil litigation defense, primarily in the areas of premises liability, product liability, personal injury and transportation. She is also experienced at handling toxic torts, pharmaceutical liability, complex and class action litigation, construction litigation, insurance coverage, and nursing home litigation.

“Jennifer is a great addition to our St. Louis office as we continue to grow the firm,” said Scott Kreamer, the firm's managing member. “With over a decade of experience, Jennifer’s breadth of knowledge and impressive track record in trial and litigation make her an incredible asset to our clients.”

Maloney has represented a variety of clients in the construction, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and transportation industries in federal and state courts across Missouri and Illinois. For the last several years she has defended a major trucking company in its personal injury and broker liability cases in most of Missouri and Southern Illinois.

“I am excited to join the team in St. Louis,” said Maloney. “I think it is a great fit for myself and my clients and I look forward to growing with the firm.”

An active member of the St. Clair County Bar Association, Maloney is currently serving as president after having previously served as first vice president and secretary, and as a member of the board of directors. She is also a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, East St. Louis Bar Association, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, Illinois State Bar Association and The Missouri Bar.

Maloney received her J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2004, and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Southern Illinois University in 2001. She is licensed to practice in Missouri; Illinois; the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri; and the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of Illinois.

Greg Odom has joined the firm's Belleville, Illinois office as a member from the Edwardsville, Illinois office of HeplerBroom.

Odom joins Baker Sterchi with a thriving practice focused on toxic torts, personal injury, product liability, premises liability, environmental law, and commercial litigation. Experienced in representing individuals, local businesses and Fortune 500 companies in Illinois and Missouri state and federal courts, he has successfully tried multiple cases to verdict and argued before the Illinois Court of Appeals.

A member of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, Madison County Bar Association, The Missouri Bar and St. Clair County Bar Association, Odom has also volunteered for the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He has served in numerous leadership positions for various Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel committees and programs and is currently a member of its board of directors.

In 2018, Odom received the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s President’s Award for Service and Commitment to the Defense Bar and the Meritorious Service Award for Service as Events Committee Chair. He is also a past recipient of the association’s Rising Star Award and President’s Commendation.

Odom earned his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2008, and his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in 2005. In addition to Missouri state courts and the Eastern District of Missouri, he is licensed to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Meghan Kane has joined the firm's Belleville, Illinois office from the Edwardsville, Illinois office of HeplerBroom.

Kane joins Baker Sterchi as a senior associate with a practice focused on toxic torts, personal injury, product liability, and premises liability. Experienced in pre-trial, trial and post-trial proceedings, she also has appellate experience in the Illinois Appellate Courts for the Fourth and Fifth Districts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

A member of the Defense Research Institute and Madison County Bar Association, Kane is also a volunteer with the Boys & Girls Club of Alton, Illinois and provides pro bono services through the Madison County, Illinois Legal Clinic.

Kane earned her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in 2011, and her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri Columbia in 2008. In addition to Missouri, she is licensed to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Kyra Short joins the firm's St. Louis office as an associate. She joins the firm from the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, where she managed a large caseload and gained trial experience. She earned her J.D. from the St. Louis University School of Law in 2016.

Ashtyn Kean joins the firm's St. Louis office as an associate. Kean’s practice is devoted to the defense of physicians, nurses, hospitals, extended care facilities and other healthcare professionals in medical malpractice litigation. She earned her J.D., with a concentration in health law, from the St. Louis University School of Law in 2017.

Kansas City Area  

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce the addition of three new associates to the firm’s Kansas City office. All three recently served as summer associates and now join the firm in a full-time capacity: Patrick Lawhon (business transactions), Kyle Klucas (litigation) and Taylor Chase (business transactions and financial services).

Taylor Chase earned her J.D. at Marquette University Law School after completing her undergraduate studies at Baker University where she also played basketball for the Wildcats. Prior to joining Spencer Fane as a summer associate in 2018, she served as a judicial intern for Judge Diane S. Sykes in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Kyle Klucas served two years as a Lawyering Skills teaching and research assistant for the University of Kansas School of Law while earning his J.D. there. He completed his undergraduate studies and served as debate team captain at Kansas State University. Additionally, Klucas spent nearly four years as an assistant debate coach at Silver Lake High School before starting law school. He was a summer associate at Spencer Fane in 2018.

Patrick Lawhon was a summer associate with Kansas City law firms, including his 2018 stint at Spencer Fane. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University before earning his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he was director of development for the Law & Entrepreneurship Society. In addition to legal experience, Lawhon worked as a teaching assistant for the Stanford Youth Creativity Innovation and Sustainable Workshop, teaching skills and leadership to high school students from Japan, and as a research assistant for the Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis to help create geo-rectified maps of the London area for the 1750s, 1860s and 1920s.
