Michelle Wade of Jetstream Aviation Law had an article, "Are You Paying the Right Price for the Family Jet?", published in the Summer 2019 issue of Family Office Magazine. The article discusses what to watch out for in a back to back aircraft transaction.

Ogletree Deakins bolstered its employment litigation practice with the additions of Shelley Ericsson and Claudia Tran as shareholder and associate, respectively. Ericsson comes to Ogletree Deakins from Armstrong Teasdale LLP, and Tran joins from Martin, Pringle, Oliver, Wallace & Bauer LLP.

Ericsson has been practicing law for more than two decades and is an experienced trial lawyer who has represented both Missouri and Kansas employers in state and federal courts on a wide range of workplace matters. Her experience also includes counseling companies of all sizes, from family-owned and privately held to Fortune 100 companies on federal and companion state equal employment opportunity laws. Ericsson is very active in the legal community and is a current member, former board member, and 2011 president of the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City. She is a frequent public speaker on employment and labor law, and she serves as editor of the Missouri Employment Law Letter, a monthly publication.

Ericsson earned her J.D. from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, her M.S. from University of Denver Sturn College of Law, and her B.A., cum laude, from Missouri State University. She is a 2017 graduate of the Centurions Leadership Program of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

Tran is an associate in the firm’s employment law practice group. While at her previous firm, she worked as a general litigation associate practicing in insurance defense, civil and business litigation, workers’ compensation, and employment law. She earned her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and her B.A. from the University of Missouri.

The Kansas City firm of Baty, Holm, Numrich & Otto adds the following associates to the firm: Jared Brown, Nathan Day, Morgan Simpson, Evan Shodowski, and Thomas Fiegener.

Brown previously worked for Brown & James in St. Louis. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia.

Day previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Cass County. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia.

Simpson and Shodowski previously worked at Lewis Brisbois in Kansas City. Prior to joining private practice, Simpson clerked for Judge Patrick D. McAnany at the Kansas Court of Appeals, and Shodowski clerked for Judge Kathryn Gardner at the Kansas Court of Appeals. Both earned law degrees from Washburn University.
