St. Louis Area

Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Jessica L. Prosperi has joined the firm as senior counsel in its St. Louis office.

Prosperi focuses her practice on asbestos liability and premises claims. She has defended complex toxic tort claims (asbestos, silica and environmental tobacco smoke), including Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) matters. She joins the firm's toxic tort, product liability and asbestos litigation teams and its technology, manufacturing and transportation industry group.

Prosperi earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law and her B.A. from University of Missouri - Columbia. She is a member of the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance.
 

Springfield Area

Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell & Brown PC (CECB) was recently chosen by Missouri Lawyers Media for its Top Legal Innovation Award for its emerging medical marijuana law practice. The award salutes firms and lawyers that identify and support a practice area in an emerging legal field and are among the first to develop expertise. The firm will be recognized at the 2019 Legal Innovation Awards Ceremony in St. Louis later this month.

CECB established its marijuana and hemp law group in November 2018. The chair of this group, Joseph D. "Chip" Sheppard was designated Lawyer of the Year for 2019 by Missouri Lawyers' Weekly arising from his efforts assisting with the birth of this industry.
 

Other States

McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips (MVP) opens their eighth office across the Midwest in Springfield, Illinois. The Springfield, Illinois office is the second office opened in 2019 by MVP and follows the opening of the Des Moines, Iowa office in August. MVP has served Illinois for over 20 years out of the St. Louis office and is excited to expand to the capital city of Illinois to better serve its clients throughout the state.

MVP has a long-established history of providing excellent legal service in matters pertaining to workers’ compensation, civil litigation and insurance defense, employment law, and public sector law.

Brent M. Neumeyer, managing shareholder of the Springfield, Illinois office, is an Illinois native and has practiced with MVP since beginning his career in 2008. He successfully defends employers and insurance carriers at all levels of trial and appellate courts in both Illinois and Missouri. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Saint Louis University School of Law and resides in Columbia, Illinois. Neumeyer will continue to practice out of MVP’s St. Louis office.

Andrew J. (AJ) Sheehan was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois and worked for the Illinois Senate before graduating from Southern Illinois University School of Law. Sheehan worked in the firm’s St. Louis office before returning home to Springfield in June 2018 with his wife Alisha. As a Springfield native, he understands the market and culture of the region, and enjoys being involved in the local community.

Neumeyer is excited to work with Sheehan in opening the new office, and stated, “AJ’s experience and expertise are a great asset to the firm and its clients. We are both very excited to continue representing our Illinois clients in the Springfield, Illinois office.”
