Opportunities available for lawyers to help those affected by recent storms

The Missouri Bar is continuing to partner with legal organizations and lawyers to help those affected by the recent storms in Missouri. Here’s how you can help:

Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARCs) in St. Louis

The Missouri Bar, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL), Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA), and Legal Services of Eastern Missouri are working together to staff a central location for legal assistance during the MARC events in St. Louis.

The MARCs will be held at 1 S. Crompton Ave. June 16-18 and June 23-26 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Volunteers will receive more information on the event after completing the sign-up form.

Please contact Jeannie Brandstetter with the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys with any questions at Jeannie@matanet.org.

Disaster Legal Assistance Hotline

The Disaster Legal Assistance Hotline is a quick and easy way to give back to your community in times of crisis.

How it works:

-          When the president of the United States signs a disaster declaration, The Missouri Bar opens the Disaster Legal Assistance Hotline – 800-829-4128.

-          Those affected by natural disasters call the hotline with legal questions.

-          Volunteer lawyers return the calls and provide no-cost legal help. Lawyers can NOT represent callers or accept them as clients.

Lawyers can assist with various disaster-related legal problems like landlord-tenant issues, replacement of important legal documents, insurance claims, and contractor scams.
