Outgoing YLS Chair Chris Dandurand presents 2022 Chair Awards to deserving lawyers

Copy of YLS 2021(1)This year, outgoing Young Lawyers’ Section Chair Chris Dandurand recognized four amazing lawyers for outstanding service to the section. These awards are presented annually by the outgoing chair to individuals that have been particularly helpful or who have done an outstanding job in their role as a council member.

Danielle Atchison is a business immigration lawyer at Mdivani Corporate Immigration Law Firm and serves as the District 3 representative and secretary/treasurer of the YLS Council.

“She currently chairs the CLE committee and was responsible for live programming around Constitution Day in September, coordinating presentations at schools across the state,” Dandurand said. “She is a leader in everything she does with the YLS.”

Cara Stuckel is a lawyer with Anheuser Busch in St. Louis. She served as the 2021-22 Missouri Bar Board of Governors YLS liaison and is currently a YLS representative for District 9.

“Stuckel is the chair of the social committee and takes on anything asked of her and does not take ‘no’ for an answer,” Dandurand said. “If you need someone to pitch in, she will be there without question.”

Whitney Fay is a lawyer with Swanson Bernard. She has served on the YLS Council since 2020 and was recently elected to represent YLS on The Missouri Bar’s Board of Governors.

Kamillia Scott is a member of Dentons’ real estate practice in Kansas City and is a member of the YLS Council, representing District 3.

“Fay and Scott spearheaded the Diversity Committee’s main initiative this year putting together ‘The Milly Project’ presentations around the state,” Dandurand said.

“The Milly Project” is a play that tells the story of Milly Sawyers, an enslaved woman who won her freedom in Springfield in 1836. The YLS was instrumental in having the play filmed to improve access to the story statewide.

All Missouri lawyers 36 years old or younger or who have been practicing for five years or less are automatically members of the Young Lawyers’ Section. The YLS Council serves as the governing body of the section.
