Prepare for 2025 with education resources from The Missouri Bar
The Missouri Bar is committed to improving the lives of Missourians by providing for, promoting and protecting justice for all. This mission drives the goal of ensuring that all Missourians have access to ongoing civics education.
The Missouri Bar civics education department offers a wide variety of resources to help teachers educate their students on government and Missouri law. Below are the top teacher resources available at MissouriLawyersHelp.org/Educational-Resources to help you in your classroom.
Free American Government lesson plans
The Missouri Bar offers over 50 lesson plans at no cost to teachers. The lessons, which span six units, were created by Missouri teachers to inspire students to think critically and creatively. Lesson plans can be found at MissouriLawyersHelp.org/FreeMOLessonPlans and cover the foundations of government, the United States Constitution, the branches of government, political participation, and civil rights and liberties.
The Missouri Bar’s Show Me the Constitution competition offers high school students across the state the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with civic discourse and today’s complex constitutional questions.
During the competition, teams of students take on the role of experts testifying about constitutional issues before a congressional committee, composed of three judges. The format brings constitutional principles to life while developing critical thinking and civil debate skills.

Summer Institute
Summer Institute is a dynamic training program for educators specializing in American history, government, and civics hosted by The Missouri Bar citizenship education department.
During the three-day program, teachers learn about critical concepts and experience them firsthand. Working through lessons before implementing them allows educators to anticipate student reactions and fine-tune their approach for maximum impact.
The 2025 session will be held July 21-23 in Jefferson City and cover social media and the Constitution.
