Register for upcoming MOLAP presentations Feb. 28

If you’ve missed the last couple MOLAP conferences, here’s your chance to get caught up on relevant and timely well-being concepts. Register for the upcoming MOLAP rebroadcast from 8:30 a.m.-3:35 p.m. Feb. 28.

The cost for the rebroadcasted conference is $54, and participants can earn 6.9 MCLE and ethics credits. Those interested can learn more or register at MoBarCLE.MoBar.org.

The replay includes six presentations from two previous MOLAP conferences.

Attendees will hear from keynote speaker and presenter Hon. Mary Beth O’Connor, who discusses her journey from using methamphetamines to becoming a federal judge.

"The way I like to phrase it … is that it’s hard to stay sober if you have a mental health condition that’s not under control,” O’Connor said. “And it’s really hard to get your mental health under control if you’re not sober when you have a substance use disorder, and so they should both be tackled simultaneously,” she said.

Attendees will also hear about:

— How a holistic approach to practice can help lawyers reduce stress, including practical examples and tips, from Michael C. Reed, of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

— How trauma affects lawyers, presented by Laurel E. Stevenson, a director at the federal district court in Kansas City.

— Different types of narcissism and how they can appear in the legal profession, presented by Timothy W. Roldan, of the Law Offices of Timothy W. Roldan.

The importance of keeping your personal identity as a lawyer from Paige M. Sparks, of Sparks Legal, and Samantha J. Sparks, of Sparks Law Firm.

Addressing silent disabilities in the workforce from Raven Ballard, former MOLAP clinician and well-being coordinator, and David Crawford, of Crawford Intellectual Property Law.

MOLAP Director Stacy Parmer will moderate the rebroadcast and be available online to answer participants’ questions in the chat.
