Secretary of State’s Office seeking notaries to assist with 2020 elections

Recently enacted legislation permits several additional voting options for the 2020 elections, including mail-in ballots with notarization of the ballot envelope.

With elections taking place Aug. 4, 2020, and Nov. 3, 2020, the Office of the Secretary of State is seeking notaries who will agree to notarize mail-in ballots at no charge.

Many Missouri lawyers are notaries or have one or more members of staff who are notaries. Missouri lawyers are encouraged to help provide this essential public service. Lawyers who volunteer to provide this service of notarizing ballots at no charge for the August and November elections will have their name and contact information posted on the Secretary of State's website for direct reference.

To volunteer, please contact Trish Vincent, Executive Deputy Secretary of State, at trish.vincent@SOS.mo.gov or 573-751-8731 and indicate the following:

  • Individual or firm name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Hours of operation
  • Whether an appointment would be required
