Submit nominations for YLS Council vacancies by July 7

A vacancy exists on the Young Lawyers’ Section Council in District 4 (Cass, Clay, Johnson, Lafayette, Platte, and Ray counties). The YLS Council will fill the vacancy by majority vote. The council intends to vote on candidates at its summer meeting.  

The term for the District 4 council seat will end September 2026, filling the remaining time left of a two-year term. 

Nominations will be accepted from eligible YLS members in District 4. You can find your YLS district here. Those interested in serving must complete the nominating petition and email it to Brett Rolwes at yls@mobar.org, The Missouri Bar YLS liaison, by July 7. Those who file should also include a resume and brief statement explaining their interest in serving on the YLS Council. All eligible petitions received will be submitted to the YLS Council for consideration. 

What is the YLS Council? 

The YLS Council is the governing body for the Young Lawyers’ Section of The Missouri Bar. It is composed of approximately 35 young or new lawyers elected to serve two-year terms from districts across the state. Officers and executive committee members are elected from within the ranks of the council’s membership. 

What does YLS do? 

YLS sponsors, in full or in part, a variety of public service projects, Continuing Legal Education programs, and social networking events across Missouri that are geared toward young and recently admitted lawyers. The section collaborates with a number of affiliate organizations that also have great opportunities to help new and young lawyers integrate in the profession and serve their communities.
