The Missouri Bar supports the rule of law and equal justice for all

There is no place in our society for racism or systemic discrimination. During these critical times, The Missouri Bar will continue to promote equal justice and support the rule of law. Importantly, we recognize that the rule of law only works if it is applied equally to everyone and that all are treated fairly.

The senseless and tragic killings that have sparked protests worldwide have shined light on many injustices and remind us that, as lawyers, we are uniquely able to contribute to the process of healing our land. Let us live up to the promise of our oaths—to practice law with consideration for the defenseless and oppressed. As “public citizens having special responsibility for the quality of justice,” let us also live up to that responsibility as a bar by being “mindful of deficiencies in the administration of justice” and “seeking improvement of the law, access to the legal system, and the administration of justice.”

The Missouri Bar remains committed to do our part to encourage, assist, and support lawyers in working towards the fair and impartial administration of justice. Here’s how you can help:

The Missouri Bar has many voices and many opinions among its membership, and each voice should be heard as we address the issues facing our state and our nation. However, our unified voice is and shall always be in support of the rule of law and equal justice for all.
