What is MOLAP?

MOLAP offers no-cost, confidential services to Missouri lawyers, judges, law students

From difficult clients to long hours and high expectations, working in the legal profession can be stressful.

The Missouri Lawyers’ Assistance Program is here to help lawyers, judges, and law students navigate anxiety, depression, substance misuse, and other concerns, helping them to even better serve their clients and communities.

Confidential, no-cost counseling services

MOLAP offers counseling at no cost. Talk with a licensed counselor and develop strategies to cope with anxiety, burnout, and more. Those with substance use concerns can be connected to a clinically trained substance use clinician and peer volunteers recovering from substance misuse. MOLAP can also help develop individualized recovery plans.

All communication with MOLAP and its services are completely confidential. MOLAP works because it provides easy access to safe, no-cost, ethical, and confidential help before there are consequences or the issues become irreversible.

Other resources

MOLAP coordinates crisis intervention services for individuals and law firms and offers crisis intervention CLEs at no cost throughout the year.

It also offers a Model Policy for Law Firms that can be implemented in offices of all sizes, recognizing that law firms can play an important role in the well-being of lawyers. The model policy, endorsed by The Missouri Bar Board of Governors, is a valuable tool for law firms when addressing a lawyer’s substance use or mental health concerns.

Community

Through MOLAP, conversations about tough topics can help lawyers overcome challenges. To help facilitate these discussions, MOLAP coordinates resources and activities for Well-being Week in Law and Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. It also works with The Missouri Bar’s Standing Committee on Well-being in the Profession to provide resources and CLEs at no cost.

Lawyers and judges can join the online Lawyers’ Assistance and Well-being Committee to further discuss well-being in the legal profession and make new connections.
