Whitney Fay elected to represent YLS on The Missouri Bar Board of Governors

Whitney Fay, a lawyer with Swanson Bernard in Kansas City, was recently elected to represent the Young Lawyers’ Section on The Missouri Bar Board of Governors for the 2022-2024 term. Fay has served on the YLS Council since August 2020 as a District 3 council member from Jackson County. She joined the bar in 2015 after graduating from the University of Missouri School of Law.

“I’m very excited to gain more insight into the board’s governance, goals, and processes,” Fay said. “I’m particularly interested in using my new role to encourage more statewide bar participation from young lawyers outside of the major metro areas so that we continue to stay apprised of the needs of all lawyers in our community no matter where they practice.”

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section facilitates the professional growth and public service of newly admitted Missouri lawyers.

The composition of the Board of Governors is defined in Supreme Court Rule 7.03, which stipulates 45 members to represent Missouri lawyers. Forty members represent Districts 1-15, and another three elected members are diversity representatives from each appellate court district. The final two members include the immediate past president and a representative of the Young Lawyers’ Section.
