Workers’ Compensation Law Committee emphasizes education opportunities for lawyers, public

From case law updates to programs with physicians and medical professionals, the Workers’ Compensation Law Committee is a place where lawyers can gain and provide insight and guidance into handling workers’ compensation claims.

“I’ve had a great time being an active participant of the work comp committee,” said committee chair Da-Niel Cunningham. “I encourage other members of The Missouri Bar to do the same (and join a committee).”

Committees offer lawyers the chance to network with other legal professionals in similar areas of law and give back to their communities and profession, Cunningham said. For example, the Workers’ Compensation Law Committee, which boasts nearly 600 members, routinely provides education and training to the public and lawyers. Most recently, the committee created a workers’ compensation FAQ page on ShowMeRights.org and developed informative resources for the Work Comp Connect online claims portal through the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation.

The committee also offers timely and relevant CLEs, including a no-cost virtual CLE on leveraging technology to improve legal practice systems during Spring Committee Meetings at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30. Speaker Christina Sondermann Capizzi, a St. Louis lawyer, will offer a unique perspective to modernizing and streamlining workflow for not only workers’ compensation practitioners, but all lawyers.
