YLS Council elects new officers, welcomes new members, continues community service during 2024 Annual Meeting
The Young Lawyers’ Section met during The Missouri Bar’s 2024 Annual Meeting/Missouri Judicial Conference. During the last meeting of the 2023-2024 YLS Council year on Oct. 19, outgoing Chair Cort VanOstran recognized all the outgoing council members and presented awards.
On Oct. 20, the council conducted the first meeting of the 2024-2025 council year. During this meeting, they elected new officers to serve from September 2024 to September 2025.
The newly elected YLS Council officers are:
- Chair: Danielle Atchison, from Kansas City
- Chair-elect: Keegan Tinney, from Joplin
- Secretary/Treasurer: Courtney Chen, from St. Louis.
They also welcomed nine new members to the council:
- Eli Dodge - District 3
- Jackson Hobbs - District 3
- Andrew Tremonti - District 3
- Cody Wiegers - District 4
- Killian Walsh – District 9
- Michael Figenshau - District 9

In addition to their regular meetings, The Young Lawyers’ Section Council hosted two service projects. Council members assisted A Red Circle, an organization focused on improving racial equity in North St. Louis County, at their North County Agricultural Education Center. They helped to harvest produce, trim weeds, and lay mulch for the next growing season. They also helped wash, weigh, and count the harvested produce.
The council also hosted a Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org clinic where several council members answered over a dozen questions submitted to Missouri.FreeLegalAnwers.org. Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org provides pro bono legal information and answers to Missourians of modest means who need basic legal advice in civil matters.
