YLS plans for 2025 during fall meeting

The Young Lawyers’ Section Council met Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, in Jefferson City to plan for the upcoming year and participate in a Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org clinic. 

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section (YLS) works to facilitate the professional growth and public service of new and recently admitted Missouri lawyers. The YLS Council is comprised of approximately 35 lawyers from districts across the state who are elected by their peers to serve two-year terms.  

The fall council meeting served as a planning session to discuss projects and events for 2025. Highlights from the meeting include: 

- Guest presentation from Ryan Harding, The Missouri Bar general counsel, covering challenges      for mandatory bars.

- Financial report and budget updates,

- Delegates and liaisons reports,

- Committee chair reports,

- And a review of upcoming events.

In addition to the meeting, the council also hosted a Missouri.FreeLegalAnswers.org clinic where about 12 lawyers answered 15 non-criminal legal questions from the public. At each meeting, the council strives to host a community service project to help new and young lawyers integrate into the profession and even better serve their clients and communities.
