Young Lawyers’ Section Council focuses on networking, community service

The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council has been busy serving communities and advancing the legal profession in recent months. 

The YLS Council held its summer meeting in Branson on July 20, combining business with community service. Prior to their meeting, council members assembled blankets and sensory bags for the Child Advocacy Center in Springfield and collected items for the Greene County Family Justice Center. During their meeting, the council welcomed new members and elected a new YLS Council delegate to The Missouri Bar Board of Governors. The council began their meeting with a visit from 2023-2024 Missouri Bar President Megan Phillips, who gave several updates pertaining to the Board of Governors 

 The YLS Council has been active across the state. The “Voices of Columbia” fundraising event, supported by the council, raised over $87,000 for the Heart of Missouri CASA chapter, which benefits children in the foster care system. 

Additionally, the council hosted several diversity networking events in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Springfield to foster support and connection among young legal professionals. “We had lawyers from all backgrounds and phases of their careers and look forward to another wonderful event in the future,” said YLS Secretary/Treasurer Keegan Tinney.

These initiatives demonstrate the council’s commitment to community service, professional development, and fostering a diverse and inclusive legal community.
