2025 State of the Judiciary: Chief Justice Russell emphasizes everyday work of courts
In her State of the Judiciary address Feb. 26 to a joint session of the Missouri General Assembly, Hon. Mary R. Russell, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri, walked through what a typical day might look like in courts across the state.
“This morning, I don’t want to talk to you about the work we do that makes headlines. Our courts are about so much more than the handful of litigants, issues, or cases that might attract your attention,” Russell said. “Today, I want to tell you ‘the rest of the story’ – how the daily activities of our courts matter in the lives of everyday people in all our communities, large and small.”

Apply for 2025 diversity judicial internship program by April 7
The Missouri Bar is once again offering a summer internship program for current 1L and 2L law students at Missouri-based law schools who are in good standing and are committed to advancing diversity in the legal profession. Due to the internship's short-term duration and flexible timing, students do not have to stress about the opportunity conflicting with other summer work and/or internship opportunities.

Register for QPR crisis response training
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer. With simple, practical, and proven steps, QPR training is the most widely taught suicide prevention gatekeeper training in the world.
Missouri lawyers have access to five QPR training courses scheduled from March through July of this year. The training is at no cost and approved for up to 1.6 hours of MCLE credit, including ethics.
