Meet #MOLawyers: Hon. Joe Goff Jr. (Ret.)
In the latest issue of The Journal of The Missouri Bar, Hon. Joe Goff Jr. answered some questions to help other lawyers get to know him.
“I am particularly inspired by lawyers who do the difficult work of litigating cases while maintaining positive and professional relationships with opposing counsel,” Goff said. “I believe that, in addition to serving the profession, these lawyers serve their clients more effectively by focusing on litigating the legal matter at issue rather than personal differences with opposing counsel.”

Missouri judges discuss appellate rules, formatting briefs, best type of oral argument during CLE
It can be difficult to actually keep briefs brief. At a judicial panel March 25, judges offered suggestions for ways lawyers can concisely organize and draft briefs, as well as present effective oral arguments, as part of a CLE on common appellate practice issues.
Hon. Zel Fischer, of the Supreme Court of Missouri; Hon. Gary Witt, of the Missouri Court of Appeals-Western District; Hon. John Torbitzky, of the Missouri Court of Appeals-Eastern District; and Hon. Matt Hamner, of the Missouri Court of Appeals-Southern District, provided insight into ways lawyers can even better improve their appellate practices.
