President’s page: The vital role of Missouri lawyers in upholding democratic principles

In the May-June issue of The Journal of The Missouri Bar, Missouri Bar President Shelly Dreyer discusses the role Missouri lawyers play in upholding democratic values.

“A cornerstone of our legal system is that laws must be applied equally to all individuals, regardless of status, wealth, or background...” Dreyer said. "As lawyers, we play a crucial role in ensuring this equal application of the law through our advocacy and professional conduct.”

Four Missouri Bar-initiated provisions pass through Missouri General Assembly

Several provisions initiated by The Missouri Bar have passed the Missouri General Assembly and now await Gov. Mike Kehoe’s signature.

The provisions address trust situs, trust termination, electronic estate planning, and estate planning during an emergency.
