Record-breaking week for Fall Committee Meetings

The Missouri Bar’s committee meetings again broke a record for participation this fall. Participation included more than 6,100 attendees across all sessions, an increase from the spring’s total of 5,800.

In The Missouri Bar’s fifth year of virtual committee meetings, 30 committees hosted a total of 28 meetings Nov. 18-21. The meetings offered a total of more than 15 hours of CLE, including some ethics and bias credits. The bar will offer the programs on demand for self-study credit, so if you missed a CLE during Fall Committee Meetings you can still view it at MoBar.org/fcm24ondemand.

Missouri lawyer elected as clerk for ABA Young Lawyers Division

Portia Britt, associate county counselor for the St. Louis County Counselor’s Office, was recently elected as the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division clerk for the 2024-2025 year at the ABA Annual Meeting in August. It has been 30 years since a Missouri lawyer has served as clerk.

In addition to her service with the ABA, Britt serves on The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council representing District 8. She is also an alumnus of The Missouri Bar Leadership Academy.

MOLAP conference provides tips for stress regulation, overcoming substance use disorders

The Missouri Lawyers Assistance Program held its annual conference Friday, Nov. 1. Attendees learned about many well-being topics including how to regulate their nervous systems.

During the conference, MOLAP presented two awards – one for exemplifying compassion and concern for lawyers and the other for pioneering contributions in the field of chemical dependency, recovery, and compassionate care for lawyers.
