St. Louis-based law firm Lewis Rice has added Katherine Utz Hunter as a member and Tyler Maetten as an associate. Utz Hunter focuses her practice on Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) compliance and the design and administration of employee benefit programs, including retirement and health and welfare plans. She advises plan sponsors on navigating complex requirements, drafts and amends plan documents and participant communications, and counsels clients on governance, fiduciary responsibilities and operational matters. She represents a wide range of clients on sophisticated employee benefits issues and regularly guides organizations through the regulatory, structural and transactional considerations shaping their programs.

Maetten represents clients in high-stakes commercial and class action litigation, as well as complex insurance matters. He works closely with clients to evaluate risk, develop case strategy and guide them through the legal process. Before joining Lewis Rice, he practiced in insurance defense, where he gained valuable insight into navigating coverage issues and claims arising in litigation. Maetten also has experience in federal agency work and civil litigation, providing a strong foundation for handling multifaceted matters.

The Black Law Students Association, St. Louis University School of Law chapter awarded the Honorable Theodore McMillian Award to Judge Renee Hardin-Tammons, appellate judge at the Missouri Court of Appeals-Eastern District. Prior to her appointment to the Court of Appeals, Judge Hardin-Tammons served as an associate, circuit and municipal court judge in the 21st judicial circuit. This award is an expression of gratitude for her service and dedication to the St. Louis legal community, law students and for integrity on the bench.
The award is named in honor of the Honorable Theodore McMillian.
