St. Louis-based law firm Lewis Rice has promoted Kylee K. Emert, Kenneth J. "Chip" Mallin Jr., Melissa G. Powers and Kristen T. Southworth to members of the firm. 

Emert advises public and private companies, private equity firms and family offices in acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, carve-outs, strategic investments and corporate governance matters. She also counsels clients on securities law matters, including corporate finance and capital formation transactions. 

Mallin represents clients in commercial and civil litigation matters and advises them through all phases of the litigation process. His practice includes substantial toxic tort litigation, where he represents businesses and other entities in matters involving exposure to hazardous substances, including asbestos. Mallin’s work in this area routinely involves taking depositions of plaintiffs, co-workers and witnesses. 

Powers practices general corporate and transactional law, with a focus on data protection and information technology. In her practice, she provides strategic counsel to help organizations safeguard information, manage risk, respond to threats and comply with regulatory and industry frameworks. Powers also frequently advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, guiding them through each aspect of a transaction from start to finish. 

Southworth counsels high-net-worth individuals and families on estate and wealth planning, estate and trust administration, and business succession planning. She specializes in customized wealth transfer and business succession solutions for families and business owners. Her practice spans the full spectrum of estate planning, including helping clients restructure existing plans to address unintended tax consequences or major life transitions.
